Morning: Exploring the Natural Beauty

Start your day with a hearty breakfast and let your pooch play in the garden or paddock before setting off on your trip to Hollingworth Lake. If you fancy a picnic you will pass on route the famous Gordon Riggs Garden Centre which now hosts a fantastic Farm shop where you can purchase a wonderful picnic or light lunch. Once you arrive at Hollingworth Lake park up (details below) grab your dog’s leash, and embark on a scenic walk around the lake. The 2.5-mile circular path offers stunning views of the water and surrounding countryside. Let your four-legged companion roam and play as you both enjoy the fresh air and tranquillity. The lake is dog-friendly, and you can permit your buddy to take a dip in the water, play in the sand and have some fun. Make sure you pack a dog towel for the car!

Half way around the lake is the Visitor Centre with toilets and café. Dogs allowed outside only but you can get a coffee and sit and take in the amazing views and there’s plenty of bowls of water out for the pooches too. There are plenty of places to stop and eat your picnic along the route or continue and find one of the amazing dog friendly eateries.

Afternoon: Dog-Friendly Eateries

The Beach Pub:

Situated right next to the lake, The Beach Pub is a pawfect spot to refuel and enjoy stunning lake views. The sign outside says they welcome friendly dogs inside but there’s also seating outside if you prefer. They do a great Sunday roast!

Evening: Playtime and Sunset Stroll

As the day winds down, let your dog burn off some energy at one of the dog-friendly play areas near the lake. The Hollingworth Lake Country Park has an open space where your furry friend can run and play fetch to their heart’s content.
